About Us
Jackie Howse - Nursery OwnerI would like to introduce myself. My name is Jackie Howse and I bought my first nursery in 2004 in Hall Green. Since then I have opened further nurseries and run an Out of School Club in Whythall. I have since downsized my operations and currently own and run Coppice Childcare Shard End my Out of School Club based on a school's premises.
The nursery was known previously as Twinkletots, which was originally opened in 2000 by the previous owner. I bought the nursery in 2017 and I love being involved in caring for children from the local community and further afield who attend the nursery.
I have a B.A. (Honours) in Early Years Education as well as a wealth of other qualifications and experience and which has provided me with the knowledge and experience to open up high quality childcare settings that have grown and expanded over the years.
I am supported by a wonderful team of Management, practitioners and a housekeeping team who are as passionate as I am about the children in our care.
As part of my previous background was working in Personnel and Training, I understand the importance of staff having regular meetings and training to ensure that we develop and deliver high level childcare and curriculum which is inline with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Statutory Guidance.
STAFF TEAM
Coppice Childcare Shard End believe that a well-trained and qualified workforce is key to providing quality care and learning opportunities for children and to support our childcare and education philosophy.
We expect, encourage and support all our staff to continue their own learning and development and ensure staff have in-depth knowledge and understanding gained through continuing professional development and higher level qualifications. We also consider it essential that staff must have the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to observe, scaffold and plan for children's learning effectively, identifying and meeting any additional needs.
We work in partnership with a range of Training Providers including Birmingham City Council and NoodleNow and other providers to access a range of courses including mandatory courses such as First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding as well as Continuous Professional Development courses such as Maths in the Early Years, Welcomm, Speech and Language UK, and other strategies. Our in-house Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is trained to Level 3 to support all children who need that extra support.
Investing in our Staff - We support Staff who wish to train to the next level of qualification, as it is important to ensure that staff are well trained but that we have Early Years educators stay in the profession for years to come.
